SENIOR PROGRAM MANAGER
1 Year Contract
The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth is a dynamic non-profit organization that engages immigrant youth and families to fulfill their potential in Canadian society. Our goal is to ensure immigrant children and youth get the services and assistance they need to succeed.
We are committed to the application of sound education principles, the improvement of communication among cultural communities, collaboration, cooperation and coordination with other agencies as it relates to youth programming. We believe in helping participants help themselves.
Currently, we are seeking for a Senior Program Manager to oversee all aspects of youth programming, evaluation, report writing and to provide leadership to Program Managers of their existing five programs.
Position Summary:
- Provide quality leadership and oversee youth-focused, school age and family programs.
- Develop programming that is culturally diverse, interesting and relevant to the specific age groups.
- Manage, sustain and grow program scope. Develop and supervise programs and project staff and volunteers.
- Ensure provision of care and supervision of all children, youth and parents who attend the programs.
General Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, continuously evaluate and improve program design, curriculum, and standards.
- Accountable for financial controls, processes and management.
- Responsible for following registration procedures for youth.
- Supervise participants directly or indirectly at multiple sites and act as a liaison to schools, community and partners.
- Participate in the selection, orientation, coaching, supervision, training and evaluation of staff and volunteers.
- Model Bridge Foundation's values while working with collaborative partners, which can include staff, volunteers, school personnel, parents, community members and agencies.
- Responsible for development and management of operating budget, project leadership and overall supervision of programs and projects.
- Participate in Bridge Foundation training and events.
- Support fundraising activities and other events.
- Market and promote programs.
- Ensure compliance to established procedures, policies, safety standards and other standards.
- Proposal writing and to create new programs and partnerships.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure completion of funding proposals, applications and renewals.
- Ensure compliance with funder accountability requirements.
- Ensure completion of grant and programmatic reports including but not limited to: pre/post tests, testimonials, financial information, and evaluations.
- Ensure adherence to funding guidelines.
- Work with Program Managers and contracted evaluators, where applicable, to evaluate current program models and make changes as needed.
- Meet regularly with Program Managers and staff.
- Get involved with local collaborative and coalitions, including but not limited to community initiatives, fundraising, community events.
The ideal candidate will have:
- University degree, preferably at the graduate level, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10+ years experience in program development and supervision
- Experience with program evaluation, logic models and staff evaluation
- Extensive background in programming for youth
- Experience in the charitable sector
- Experience working with mentoring programs
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Superior report writing and evaluation experience
- Years of experience may offset some of the educational requirement

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER
1 Year Contract

Position Summary:
The Human Resources Manager will work in partnership with the Executive Director, Operations Manager, Senior Program Manager, Program Managers and Coordinators and will support all programs through recruitment, coaching/counseling on employee relations, benefit administration, payroll processing, health and safety, policies and procedures, training and development initiatives and maintaining accurate data integrity in the HR database.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure job descriptions, job analysis, job postings and interview guidelines are accurate.
- Execute recruitment and selection initiatives to ensure vacancies are filled in a timely and efficient manner including background and reference checking.
- Review, analyze benefit plan contracts, negotiate rates and recommend any plan changes or updates.
- Review Human Resources Policies and Standards and revise as appropriate
- Ensure that the organization complies with the Human Resources Policy.
- Ensure tracking of vacations, benefits, sick time and compassionate leave
- Respond to employee enquiries regarding benefits, processes and policies
- Ensure accurate and timely entry of employee data in the Human Resources database
- Conduct new hire orientation and training
- Participate in the development, design, implementation and maintenance of HR policies, practices and procedure
- Advise, counsel, coach and support management on human resources issues
- Maintain Occupational Health and Safety programs
- Manage employee absences
- Develop processes and annual performance assessment.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management, CHRP designation is an asset
- Minimum of four (4) years progressive human resources experience, with a focus on employee relations
- Thorough knowledge of applicable governing legislation.
- Well-developed project management skills with the ability to plan and co-ordinate multiple projects/work initiatives simultaneously.
- A true team player with ability to motivate others and work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex employee and/or policy issues and provide sound advice.
- Provide support and/or involvement in committees and projects, as and when required.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) Experience with an HR software package is a considerable asset.

PROGRAM COORDINATOR
1 Year Contract
The Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth is a dynamic non-profit organization that engages immigrant youth and families to fulfill their potential in Canadian society. Our goal is to ensure immigrant children and youth get the services and assistance they need to succeed.
Currently, we are seeking an experienced Program Coordinator to assist with a school focused project that helps orient newcomer parents and youth to their respective schools and community. The outcomes of the project will increase the level of understanding of the Canadian School System and the life skills to successfully be involved in their new school and community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research, plan, organize, implement and evaluate the project.
To hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff and volunteers to ensure the project are administered efficiently.
In conjunction with the Program Manager, manage and monitor program budget.
Liaise and collaborate with program partners (CBE, CCSD, etc.) regarding the development and implementation of the project.
Liaise with school and community partners to promote program.
To develop and strengthen relationships with school and community partners.
Ensure that the rules, regulations, and policies of organization and the respective partners are adhered to.
Ensure the necessary data is accurately collected and processed properly.
Represent organization at various functions and meetings.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- Experience working with immigrant youth and families.
Experience working in a school based environment.
Experience developing and evaluating Government funded programs.
Experience working for a not for profit organization.
Experience report writing and evaluating programs.
Experience and knowledge in program development.
Experience supervising and evaluating staff and volunteers.
In-depth understanding of the Canadian school system.

After-School Program Leaders
We are seeking Program Leaders to work with ESL students in Elementary and Junior High schools. Our programs are held once a week "after school" at several schools located in Calgary. Program Leaders are needed from mid-Sept until end of June for the 2008-2009 school year. We are seeking passionate, fun, and responsible people to lead at one or more schools per week, from approximately 3:00-5:30 p.m. (program on some days may start and end earlier).
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children and youth.
- Registered or completed post-secondary studies in a program related to Education, International Relations, Social Work and/or Social Sciences.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Enthusiastic and committed to working with a diverse population.

Bilingual Assistants (Part Time)
We are seeking Bilingual Assistants for our Family Assistance Program. Bilingual Assistants provide information, orientation, community referrals, support and resources to recently arrived immigrant families in their home. In-home visits are assigned a fixed number of hours and flexibility to meet families at their convenience is required. Flexible work hours may include evenings, weekends and holidays. Hours of work can range from 3 hrs up to 11 per family.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with community related programs.
- Knowledge and understanding of the settlement sector and issues relating to migration, settlement, acculturation; family dynamics during pre- and post-migration and settlement; cultural and cross cultural issues in multicultural context
- Knowledge of the various community services and resources available in the city of Calgary.
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Enthusiastic and committed to working with a diverse population.
